My experience introducing solids to my 5 month son

When my son Brody was 4 months old we started feeding him cereal mixed with breast milk because we felt he just wasn’t being satisfied with only nursing. Once we started feeding him he became sooo much more happy and had less temper tantrums! Now he is 5 months and he eats apple sauce, apples and blueberries, bananas, and pears. BUT! I freaked out once I saw his poop!!! It was so stinky and thick! I thought I was hurting him by feeding him the solid food! but everything I’ve read said that it is normal! My little monkey loves his food for sure, but still prefers the comfort and love of breastfeeding (and so do I 😉

No more sweet smelling poop!

Thanks for sharing, Amber – your comments made us smile because we too remember the first time we gave our first child solids and realized that breastfeeding alone produces poop that’s actually quite sweet smelling in comparison!

As you say, it’s totally normal and can take on all sorts of interesting hues and textures, depending on what’s been eaten!
