This recipe combines chicken with fruit – a combination that works surprisingly well … and particularly appeals to babies!
4 oz (1/2 cup) cooked, boneless chicken, chopped
2 oz (1/4 cup) cooked rice (you can use white or brown, but brown is more nutritious)
1 ripe peach
1 tbsp formula/breastmilk
8 oz (1 cup) boneless, cooked chicken, chopped
2 oz (1/4 cup) cooked vegetables (choose the vegetables your baby prefers)
2 oz (1/4 cup) cooked rice (white or brown)
2 fl oz (1/4 cup) homemade chicken stock
2 fl oz (1/4 cup) breastmilk/formula
pinch of thyme
8 oz (1 cup) pumpkin, diced, with skin and seeds removed
5 oz (2/3 cup) sweet potato, peeled and diced
5 oz (2/3 cup) carrots, peeled and sliced
2 oz (1/4 cup) fresh, shelled peas
4 oz (1/2 cup) courgette/zucchini, chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
4 fl oz (1/2 cup) homemade chicken stock
4 fl oz (1/2 cup) water
2 tbsp cous cous
1 tbsp chopped, fresh parsley
This unusual recipe is very easy to prepare and its creamy texture is great for tots!
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast
8 fl oz (1 cup) homemade (or no-salt) chicken broth/stock
1 slice whole wheat bread
2 fl oz (1/4 cup) milk
pinch dried thyme (optional)
Serve over well chopped pasta, or with brown rice and your baby’s favourite steamed veggie!
This dish is also yummy served chilled as a special chicken salad for baby!
If your baby hasn’t had pineapple before, you might like to wait until later in his first year to give this recipe a try. Some parents find that pineapple causes diaper rash (although that’s more often the case with fresh pineapple than canned).
